The purpose of this blog is to provide classroom teachers an opportunity to refresh their passion for teaching, review the latest in research and ways to apply it in their classrooms, and to reflect on our teaching with celebrations when things go well and revisions to our strategies when the end result did not meet our expectations.

This One Stopped Me in My Tracks...

I was reading through the week's posted blogs in my Google Reader and came upon one of Jim Burke's that really made me stop and think. We've all participated in "get to know you" ice-breakers when the session facilitator asks you to tell about yourself in one sentence, a certain number of words, etc. And, we've engaged in those conversations where you were to come up with an epitaph for your tombstone. Jim presented the video, Two Questions that Can Change Your Life by Daniel Pink.
Remember Daniel Pink...author of A Whole New Mind and his newest Drive??? I read A Whole New Mind and found it to be a facinating book. It was one of those I could not put down. When I saw his new book, Drive, was on the shelves I added to my "To Read" list. You know, for summer reading when you finally get a moment to engage in pleasure reading.
After seeing the video, thinking about how I would answer the two questions, I'm not sure I can hold out until summer to read the book. The two questions in the video have me hooked. The video is so powerful, I felt I needed to share it with you. As Jim Burke asked his blog readers, I am asking you..."How would you answer the two questions?" Enjoy the video and give the questions some serious thought.
I'm off to Barnes and Noble!!

Yes, I will add that book to my reading list. I read the first book and listened to it on Audio tape. I think we should get our HS kids to read this book. (Whole New Mind)
